Language blunder...

Today I was trying to say..."we are cleaning on Saturday."
Instead I said, "we are dying on Saturday."

It got a a gasp follow by a burst of laughter.
It was totally worth it.

Catacombs

There are about 2,500 kilometres of tunnels underneath the city of Odessa...(and it extends outside the city limits) These "labyrinths" are mainly the result of limestone mining....and today are known as Odessa Catacombs.

We had the opportunity to visit "Museum of Partisan Glory" in Nerubayskoye, just north of Odessa.

During World War II catacombs served as a hiding places for Soviet partisans...enjoy a picture tour.

Housewives in the city would lower food to those hiding in the catacombs during WWII...

6 MONTHS!

I can't believe that I arrived in Ukraine 6 months ago! I am so thankful for all that God has done to get me here! I am grateful for all that He is doing in my life, today. I look forward to all that is going to happen in the next 3.5 years! The journey has just begun!

Easter 2010!

Christ is risen! He has risen indeed!

Easter is a big deal for Orthodox Ukrainians. It is on this day that they take a basket of food to church and have it blessed by the priest. For some it is the only day of the year that they go to church. Leah went past at 9:30 and took these great pictures...

After church Susanna, Inga , and I along with some of seminary students enjoyed a dinner together at Leah's apartment. We spent the evening playing games and talking. It was another wonderful holiday in Ukriane!

Language School Visit....

We had a group from the Language School in Kiev come for a weekend.

They had a busy weekend-- they helped out at English Club, saw the sights of Odessa, helped out at an after school program, and had a Sunday filled with Church Services. They had a great time seeing Odessa and practicing Russian.
